Moderation & Consequences
The purpose of moderation is not to punish people.
It is to protect the community, its members, and the welcoming atmosphere we all work together to create.
Most issues can be resolved through communication, clarification, and a willingness to learn from mistakes. We understand that nobody is perfect, and we strive to approach moderation with fairness, consistency, and common sense.
That said, participation in High Tide Haven comes with the responsibility to understand and follow the community guidelines.
How Moderation Works
Depending on the nature, severity, and frequency of a violation, moderation actions may include:
* Friendly reminders
* Informal guidance from staff
* Formal warnings
* Content editing or removal
* Temporary loss of specific privileges
* Temporary suspension from the community
* Permanent removal from the community
Staff reserve the right to determine which action is appropriate for a particular situation.
Not every violation will follow the same progression, and not every situation requires multiple warnings before action is taken.
Repeated Violations
Members who repeatedly disregard community rules may face increasingly serious consequences.
A pattern of behavior is often more important than any single incident. Members who demonstrate a willingness to learn from mistakes will generally be treated differently than members who repeatedly ignore staff guidance.
Community Privileges
Certain community features, such as avatars, signatures, private messaging, marketplace access, event participation, or other special privileges, may be restricted or revoked when they are involved in a violation.
Attempting to bypass a restriction or disciplinary action may result in additional moderation measures.
Zero-Tolerance Violations
Certain behaviors are considered especially harmful to the community and may result in immediate suspension or permanent removal.
These include, but are not limited to:
* Harassment
* Threats
* Discriminatory conduct
* Deliberate intimidation
* Stalking or targeted abuse
* Serious violations of creator rights
* Promotion of illegal activities
Staff are not obligated to provide multiple warnings before taking action in these situations.
Content Removal
Content that violates community guidelines may be edited, locked, hidden, moved, or removed without notice.
Whenever practical, staff will explain why an action was taken. However, preserving the health of the community will always take priority.
Appeals
Members who believe a moderation action was made in error may respectfully contact the staff team for review.
Civil discussion is welcome. Harassment, hostility, or attempts to publicly litigate moderation decisions are not.
A Clean Slate
We believe people can learn, grow, and improve.
In most cases, members who maintain a positive record over time will not be permanently judged for past mistakes.
Staff may consider long periods of positive participation when reviewing future issues and moderation decisions.
Some violations, particularly those involving harassment, hate speech, threats, or other severe misconduct, may remain part of a member's record indefinitely.
Staff Discretion
No rulebook can anticipate every situation.
The staff team reserves the right to interpret and enforce these guidelines in a manner that best serves the safety, health, and long-term success of High Tide Haven and its community.
