Community Expectations & Member Etiquette
The following guidelines apply throughout High Tide Haven. We encourage all members to read them before participating in the community. Our staff are always happy to help answer questions, but we've put considerable effort into documenting our policies so everyone has a clear understanding of how the community operates.
By participating in High Tide Haven, you agree to follow these guidelines. While we understand that mistakes happen, members are responsible for familiarizing themselves with our rules and expectations.
Be Kind and Respectful
High Tide Haven is intended to be a welcoming, supportive community for creators and hobbyists of all kinds. Treat fellow members, staff, and visitors with courtesy and respect at all times.
Personal attacks, insults, harassment, bullying, or deliberately antagonistic behavior are not permitted. Disagreements are natural, but hostility is not. Members who engage in abusive behavior may receive warnings, suspensions, or permanent removal from the community.
Discussion and Debate
Healthy discussion is encouraged. People will inevitably have different opinions, experiences, and perspectives, and respectful disagreement can lead to meaningful conversations.
What we expect:
* Discuss ideas without attacking people.
* Assume good intentions whenever possible.
* Accept that not everyone will share your views.
* Know when to step away from an unproductive conversation.
Good-natured joking and friendly banter are welcome. However, discussions that become hostile, inflammatory, or personal may be moderated.
The following are never permitted:
* Racism or ethnic discrimination
* Sexism or gender-based harassment
* Religious intolerance
* Harassment based on identity, orientation, lifestyle, or personal beliefs
* Personal attacks disguised as debate
If someone is living their life legally, ethically, and without harming others, we ask members to extend the same courtesy and respect they would expect in return.
A Mature Community
High Tide Haven is designed for adults and mature audiences. This does not mean every discussion must be serious, formal, or humorless. Creativity, fun, and playful conversation are all encouraged.
What we ask is that members conduct themselves with maturity, patience, and consideration for others. A strong community is built through tolerance, respect, and a shared commitment to making the space enjoyable for everyone.
Supportive Conversations
We understand that life can be challenging and that everyone occasionally needs encouragement or advice. We provide dedicated spaces for members to seek support from the community.
However, High Tide Haven is not a substitute for professional counseling, therapy, crisis intervention, or emergency services. Content centered around suicide, self-harm, sexual assault, or other serious crisis situations is not permitted. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or require professional assistance, please seek help from qualified resources in your area.
Keep the Vibes Constructive
High Tide Haven exists as a creative refuge from the noise of everyday life. Constructive criticism, thoughtful discussion, and sharing frustrations are perfectly acceptable when done respectfully.
What we discourage are posts whose sole purpose is to provoke conflict, spread negativity, or drag discussions into endless complaints. Help us maintain an atmosphere where members feel inspired to create, learn, and connect.
Private Messages
Community standards apply to private messages just as they do to public posts.
Harassment, threats, scams, unwanted solicitation, or abusive behavior through private messages are not permitted. If you receive inappropriate messages from another member, please contact the staff team.
While staff do not routinely read private messages, we may investigate reports of abuse when necessary.
Post in the Appropriate Place
Before creating a topic, please take a moment to ensure you're posting in the correct forum.
Keeping discussions organized helps everyone find information more easily and contributes to a better experience for the entire community. Off-topic posting, excessive derailment of discussions, or repeatedly posting content in inappropriate sections may be treated as spam.
Write Clearly
We don't expect perfect grammar, flawless spelling, or formal writing. Everyone makes mistakes, types quickly, or posts from mobile devices.
We do ask that members make a reasonable effort to communicate clearly. Excessive text speak, intentionally distorted writing, or posts that are difficult for others to read may be moderated.
Examples include:
* Excessive alternating capitalization
* Heavy use of leetspeak
* Intentionally unreadable abbreviations
* Deliberately confusing formatting
Write with the same consideration for your readers that you would hope they show for you.
No Spam or Unsolicited Advertising
Spam is not permitted.
This includes:
* Mass private messages
* Unsolicited advertisements
* Repeated promotional posts
* Posting solely to increase post counts
* Meaningless or repetitive replies
Members are welcome to promote their projects, commissions, stores, streams, services, or creative work in designated areas of the community, provided they follow the guidelines specific to those sections.
Respect Copyright and Intellectual Property
Do not share, distribute, request, or promote pirated software, stolen digital content, unauthorized copies of creative works, or other forms of intellectual property infringement.
This includes software, artwork, code, assets, media, and any content that you do not have permission to distribute.
Illegal or Harmful Activities
Discussion that promotes, encourages, or instructs others in illegal activity is prohibited.
Content involving criminal activity, fraud, exploitation, piracy, or other unlawful behavior may be removed without notice.
As with all community matters, staff reserve the right to make final decisions regarding content that may be harmful to the community, its members, or the spirit of High Tide Haven.
