Privacy is serious

Welcome to High Tide Haven (https://kaywyne.com)! We’re glad you’re here. We respect your privacy, so this page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we keep it safe.

Comments

If you leave a comment, we collect the info you share in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser details. This helps us spot and block spam.

If you use Gravatar, an anonymized version of your email may be sent to them to see if you’ve got an avatar set up. After your comment is approved, your profile picture may be visible to the public alongside your comment. You can read more about Gravatar’s privacy practices here: Automattic Privacy Policy.

Media

If you upload images, please avoid including location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract location data from images posted on the site.

Cookies

We use cookies (tiny files stored on your device) to make your experience smoother:

  • If you comment, you can choose to save your name, email, and website in cookies so you don’t have to retype them next time. These last for one year.
  • If you log in, we’ll set cookies to remember your login and screen preferences. Login cookies last two days, screen preference cookies last one year. If you click “Remember Me,” your login lasts two weeks. Logging out clears these cookies.
  • If you edit or publish content, an extra cookie (with no personal info) is saved to track the post ID. It expires after one day.

You can clear or block cookies through your browser settings if you prefer.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Sometimes we share content from other sites (like YouTube, Twitch, or other embedded media). These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with their content just as if you visited them directly. Check out their own privacy policies for details.

Who We Share Your Data With

The only time your information is shared is when it’s necessary—for example, if you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How Long We Keep Your Data

  • Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically.
  • If you register for an account (if enabled), the personal info you provide stays in your profile. You can view, edit, or delete your info anytime (except your username). Site administrators can also see and edit that info.

Your Rights Over Your Data

You’re in control of your data. If you’ve left comments or have an account, you can request:

  • An exported file of the personal data we hold about you.
  • That we erase your personal data (unless we’re required to keep it for administrative, legal, or security reasons).

Where Your Data Goes

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service to keep the site safe and pleasant for everyone.

Keeping Your Data Safe

We take steps to protect your information and keep it secure. While no system is 100% perfect, we treat your info as carefully as we’d guard buried treasure.

Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date below.
